Freevo on RH9

O.k. I'm a super newbie to Linux and haven't yet mastered "rpms' and installs, so sorry if this is a bonehead question.

I'm trying to install Freevo on RH9. I've downloaded the 1.4-rc1.i386.rpms and ran "rpm" on all four of them that I got from sourceforge.net. These are the four files:

freevo-1.4-rc1.i386.rpm
freevo-apps-1.4-rc1.i386.rpm
freevo-boot-1.4-rc1.i386.rpm
freevo-runtime-8.01-rc1.i386.rpm

I tried following directions at http://freevo.sourceforge.net/install.html#Download but since there were no tar.gz packages to download no /freevo directory was created. Since no directory was created I can't run freevo setup. In fact, the only evidence that I actually installed the rpms is that when I try to install them again, I'm told that they're already installed.

Why is the program invisible? If I haven't installed it yet, how do I? What package haven't I downloaded and installed yet? Please help. Thanks.

Just another newbie side note -- how can I get out of the stupid gui (like gnome that shows up automatically) and back to the command line interface? I can get a terminal window, but can't figure out how to get out of the window interface entirely.

just try "rpm -qf freevo" to see what files it installed where.
