I am running slackware 10.2 linux version 2.4.31

I just installed freerock gnome and when I use xwmconfig and change my xsession to gnome I get the following error

Apparently there is something wrong with lipangocairo, but I have no idea how to even go about fixing this, can somebody please help?

Hi sgf2,I don't like doing this and am not even sure if linking somewhere else for an answer is allowed but freerock hangs out at another forum I belong too and quite a few knowledable people are there and some being consultants. Some even use freerock's gnome themselves,I on the other hand do not but i will point you in the right direction.

You do not need to register to post, you can post as unregistered but we would like to see more people registering/posting as we are a very small community and most of us post here as well.

Sorry mods if that was frowned upon and if it is I can ask freerock to come answer this guys question in a pm if need be,that is if he hasnt seen it himself already.

good luck

It seems the op didnt reply with the fix so I will quote Freerock from the op's thread over at the link I mentioned above.

Quote:
gnome-session: error while loading shared libraries: libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file
or directory
Quote:
from Freerock,
install this package: http://mirror.datapipe.net/norlug/fr...-i486-1frg.tgz
It seems there was another thread by a new member who asked the same question today...so In case others have this problem they can search here.

i just had the same problem when trying to use xMule:
./xmule-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

i followed that link (http://mirror.datapipe.net/norlug/f...0-i486-1frg.tgz) but the file doesn't exist..

anyone knows where this package can be downloaded from?

never mind i got the file (pango-1.10)
now my problem is w/ libstdc++.so.6

pango file

I had the same error message after updating via swaret. It put pango 1.08 in there. Here is the link to finding pango 1.10.

mirror.datapipe.net/norlug/frg/frg-current/frgnome/platform/
