Unhappy FreeNX authentication failed

I am using Mandrake 10.0 and following the instructions at http://www.linux-tip.net/cms/content/view/158/6 I installed freenx. While trying to get some help from irc I am informed that installing rpms version 10.1 over 10.0 is not a good idea. I am getting

NX> 203 NXSSH running with pid: 2552
NX> 285 Enabling check on switch command
NX> 285 Enabling skip of SSH config files
NX> 200 Connected to address: 24.195.34.135 on port: 22
NX> 202 Authenticating user: nx
NX> 208 Using auth method: publickey
NX> 204 Authentication failed.

I'd like to use freenx because of its speed. I connect from work to home using ssh without problem. SSH is ok with the console but when I open up firefox, it's getting really slow. I couldn't find step by step troubleshooting info for this problem. What I see is this is a common problem. Thanks in advance.

I went through this same problem when I first set up freenx....too bad I dont remember do I fixed it.

If I remember correctly it was a problem with permissions and the public/private key pair. I forget the permissions part
but the best bet for the keys is to use the nomachine default keys to get everything working, then change the keys later.
I believe you can download them off of nomachines website. I believe there is an option in the freenx installer to use
the nomachine key as well.

Also try your connections from another computer on your local network, I am not sure if you are able to log in on the same box as the
server.

PM me if you need any more help.

Mike
