It sounds like your version of
NoMachine NX Server is the Free Edition. Free Edition limits connections to two named users and two concurrent connections. In the case of the Free Edition,
NoMachine limits the number of named users to two.
Free Edition NX Server users are stored in a username database maintained on the NX Server, and never more than two different names are allowed at a given time. It is possible to remove existing NX users and make room for new ones, but this is not a practical solution when many users are involved.
To clarify,
NoMachine offers five different NX Server subscriptions:
- Free Edition (Two connections, two users, unsupported)
- Enterprise Desktop (Two connections, unlimited users, supported)
- Small Business (Ten connections, ten users, supported)
- Enterprise (Unlimited connections, unlimited users, supported)
- Advanced (Unlimited connections, unlimited users, supported)
While FreeNX is built on the open source components of NoMachine NX, there is no relationship between NoMachine NX and FreeNX. NoMachine NX is commercially supported (by NoMachine); FreeNX is community supported. For a period of time, the FreeNX project used NoMachine's NX Client; however, advances in the true NX protocol (developed by NoMachine) make the current NX Client useless where FreeNX is concerned.
