Free linux is in danger!
What's up?Everyone! :)
I've been using RedHat Linux for 2 years.I love it free and easy to use. However, when I received their e-mail and said that they wouldn't support free RedHat Linux,I am dissapointed. :( Anyway, this is real.I am planning to shift to SUSE or Mandrake.Would anybody mind telling me how to shift to one of them safely?Because my RedHat Linux system was built up for a long time.I don't want to rebuild it because it's a waste of time. ;) Thanks. :) |
Check out fedora. Basically red hat doesn't support an desktop OS any more, but is sponsering one.

Well instead of shifting, why not just keep your existing setup and just update it by other means? If you were using the up2date feature with Redhat, there are a million other ways to update your current machine, etc.
If you have alot of customizations, I really don't see the point in reinstalling distro's ever since they make it so easy to update. Most of the time when new versions come out, they are only updates to the software anyways, which you can just update like I said, by other ways. Regards. PS. And Redhat is only focusing on their Enterprise editions and Commercial distro's, not their regular Desktop distribution, they've handed that over to Fedora. |
