Lightbulb Found Suse 9.1 Pro ISO files!

But I'm not sure about the legalities of downloading them.

We own a copy of Suse Linux 9.0 Professional.

What are everybody's thoughts on this?

I downloaded them. Can't see why you shouldn't.

Lightbulb more info

I downloaded them, burnt them, and have installed them.

However, I couldn't recover/repair, or update successfully my existing 9.0 install. Probably because my botched attempts at trying to FTP, http, or whatever network install. the network drivers would load, and I have a high speed connection here, it just never happened. I let that install (the network one.) go over my vacation, and it never happened!

Oh well. the upshot is, 9.1 is installed, it took some time on 5 CDs compared to the DVD install I did for 9.0

Already some of my issues with 9.0 have been fixed, namely,

Root not having mouse or cursor upon login.

internal and external mouse, keyboard work fine now, thank you very much.

Web Browsing speed *seems* to be somewhat improved. However, it is still slower than windows on sites it hasn't been to before.

But, it's a minor annoyance, I think I can live with, I'll just have to see.

haven't tried Wine yet. And am thinking about mounting the NTFS partition with Captive instead of NTFS progs for linux. Anybody have an opinion on that?

Also, if you're like me, let me know, and I can get you the link. I found it on google (for Suse Linux 9.1 Pro ISOs.)

You need 5 blank CDs.

It's all legal

All software there is GPL or commercial demos. There's no restriction on redistributing these CDs.

For your browsing speeds, try configuring your MTU size.

If you have SuSE 9.0 Personal, install it then set up YAST to use the 9.1 Pro updates. Run YAST to update your system - lo! you have the Pro version.

The isos are against SuSE's rules - they do not provide them. Those isos are from someone who has taken their disks and imaged them.

Yes. It will take a while but it can be done. Isn't FOSS great?

Don't see why not. For safety's sake, back it up first, then go to 9.1 Personal, then 9.1 Professional.

No, I own a copy of 9.1 Pro - but, in theory, it should just be a matter of finding a mirror for 9.1 pro, change the YAST source's to it's folders and set the system to update itself - Personal, however, is just a cutdown version of Professional so updating will probably not do that much. What is it that you need from Pro that isn't in Personal? Why not just download the files manually and install them?

Alternatively, buy a copy of 9.1 Pro - it's not expensive and you will be supporting the community.
