Fortune on gnome-terminal startup?

Would anyone please explain how to have each gnome-terminal run the 'fortune' program on startup? Is there a configuration file that runs programs on startup? When I first log into slackware 9.1 I receive a fortune, but I am deprived of one in my gnome-terminal.

That's because your gnome-terminals aren't
login-shells ... all you need to do is a) invoke
them as such or b) create a .bashrc that runs
fortune, or c) ...

Cheers,
