format a dvd+r

hello i have got some mp4 files that i want to burn as data and on k3b there is a format tool but only for dvd rw and i need to format my dvd+r so i can watch it on the television, does any one know the sudo command or an application that will format the dvd before copying the files please ?
i was using devede and dvdstyler but it takes so long and some one suggested burning as data but when i did and tried to watch on the television it said it needs to be formatted.
thank you.

You don't need to format the dvd+r, as this is automatically done upon writing.
Make sure that your dvd-player supports the codecs (likely xvid, divx, h264 etc.) and the container (mp4) used in your mp4 files before writing an unerasable disc.
