forcing the order of /dev/sda /dev/sdb etc..
Hi,
I have a distribution of Suse9.2 installed on a sata drive. This drive is detected as /dev/sda and is set as the boot disk in the BIOS. I also have a fibre channel card that has two RAID stripes. When I plug the fibre cables in, the Linux kernel detects and labels the two fibre devices as /dev/sda and /dev/sdb and the sata boot drive is set to /dev/sdc. This causes problems booting the system. My question is how would I go about forcing the kernel to set the two fibre stripes to /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc and leaving the sata boot drive as /dev/sda. Thanks for you help. |

You should have started a new thread for this, especially since the current one has nothing to do with what you're asking. Don't need to ask multiple times either, be patient if you want help as everyone here only replies when they have the time to do so. Try another distro besides Red Hat 9, as that's old and unsupported now.
