force file system integrity check on reboot

hi there,

I want to force a file system integrity check on next startup, how do I do that?

Also, i'm running Hardware RAID, does anyone know of any good diagnostic programs for RAID? is there anyway to access each hard drive indervidually and scan them for errors? does anyone know of a good scandisk program for linux? one that will run on a mounted drive would be great!

Have a look at the manpages for fstab, and read about the sixth field. (In fact, you can search on "sixth field" if you'd like.)

fsck.

Running a filesystem check on a read-write mounted filesystem will destroy it.
