Font Courier New crashing X.org

I just updated to X.org 6.8.2, and I just noticed that any program which attempts to use font -*-courier new-medium-r-*--*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* will cause the x server to quit with a sig SEGV (signal 11).

What is wrong with that?

BTW, before the upgrade, programs such as gnome-text-editor would get bad graphic glitches if set to use that font. Right now only Opera seems to handle it alright.

Could it be a problem with my font file, or is it something else? Anyone with the same problem?

My font's md5 is 72c75860d89e91a517dfb1e7d308c180 , came as cour.ttf on Windows XP. Anyone with the same checksum?
