Fluxbox...not quite what I had expected
Well, I've tried Gnome, tried KDE, now I've DLed and installed Fluxbox to see what that's like. It's not quite what I had expect. All I have in front of me is a small plain toolbar and a blank desktop with no icons, no wallpaper. I think I can still do everything I would normally do since right click brings up a simple start menu. Anyways, I need some tips to get Fluxbox looking like some of the screenshots I've screen. What plugins/add ons do I need to get start? Or do I need to configure it somehow?

What are the screenshots? Explain a little more so we can help.

Basically that screenshot was done by making his own theme. You can download a tool that lets you create a custom theme

Yup, that's the link where I saw screenshots of fluxbox. I think I saw some things like desktop icons, little meters/indicators, taskbar icons, and other things like that.

If you want icons than FLuxbox is not the way to go
|
So it's not possible to have icons in fluxbox then :( ?
|
Check out "idesk" for icons and the fluxbox home page has all kinds of goodies.

Sorry but I have been looking at www.google.com/linux but nothing on adding icons.

How did you get Flux running in RH9.0? I can't get through the session manager. Did you adjust kdm, xdm, pull it from startx? What does your .xsession contain? TIA for any response. |
@ SiriusAB
1) cd /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions 2) cp GNOME Fluxbox or 2) cp KDE Fluxbox 3) pico Fluxbox 4) change exec gnome (or kde) to "exec fluxbox" (no quotes) 5) save and exit That should do it. Log out and on the RH login screen, click on Sessions and you should see Fluxbox |
