I assume you're trying to compile it from source. The (not so) nice thing about rh and mandrake are that they put files in various non-standard locations. what you need to do is figure out where your xlibs are, and add the path to them to ld.so.conf, which should be in /etc or some some subdirectory of /etc. Once you do that, try ./configure again.
You could also just go to rpmfind.net and find a binary for your system.
