fluxbox background is always brown

ive been to the fluxbox chat, the ubuntu chat, nothing i do will fix this problem.

the fluxbox background is brown. no matter what i do to set the wallpaper, it stays brown. only thing that sort of works is xsetroot, in which i can make it gray. not much of an improvement

i made sure nautilus isnt running. im using version 0.9.14 build from source, as the default ubuntu breezy ones arent working with the menus properly. ive also tried an older .9.11 versions, which has the same brown wallpaper result.

any solutions? or should i stick with gnome?

Need more info sport. How have you tried setting the wallpaper? Did you use fbsetbg? If so, what is the output of fbsetbg -i?

don't mean to hijack, but I have the same problem. I set the background with fbsetbg and all is good. Use restart from the desktop menu and everything sticks. They I do a full reboot and the back ground is gone. I go to my ~/.fluxbox/init and add the root command line with -l to look for last wallpaper, but after a reboot, still brown.

Also, I tried to change the style files to include a rootcommand to set the background and I cannot get that to work at all.

I am also running Ubuntu with Flux.

Any help would be appreciate.

For those not familiar with Ubuntu, my .fluxbox directory does not have a /start /initrx /session or any of the other .fluxbox files I remember from my Fedora install.

(Note: I am total newbie fodder)

thanks in advance for any help offered.
