flashplayer opensuse/mandriva

I got a website that broadcasts transmissions from ATC from the local airport. Went to the site and found that the latest version of macromedia flashplayer was necessary for it to work. Downloaded the Linux version with install instructions and installed on Opensuse and Mandriva. Results are the same, I can hear it if my cptr volume is all the way up and my speakers are all the way up but it's barely a whisper. I can hear other sound well, music cd's the kde logon sounds etc., so I'm assuming it's a problems with flashplayer and Linux. Read a few articles indicating that Macromedia wasn't putting much effort into getting their flashplayer to work on Linux? I don't have much experience configuring sound as I don't use it much to listen to music etc. Installed the windows version and it works fine on my W2K. Was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with flashplayer. Using opensuse 10.3 and Mandriva2008.

Is it only Flash with which this is happening? You usually get a little volume control with Flash movies IIRC. Maybe that's down? I have no problems like this on Mandriva installations - can hear Flash movies just fine. May be worth trying the version from the repositories with Mandriva?

My sound works fine, in general. Plays CD's, gets all the kde sounds, etc. I actually tried installing on Mandriva using the instructions on this site: http://www.go2linux.org/adobe-flash-...va-spring-2007

Tried it on opensuse 10.3 using Yast to download from repositories and then also downloading from the flashplayer site. I do get sound but it's like a whisper from the next room. Got alsa setup as it seems to need that and did the test which worked fine. Shows up in my plugins in firefox so, don't have a clue. There is a volume control on the site which I click all the way up but still the same. No sure if I used repositories for the Mandriva install or just downloaded. Will give that a try. Thanks for your response.
