Flashing program for linux

I want to use linux to make flash toons.

Although i am aware that Flash MX will run under wine, I would much rather prefer to use a native linux program.

I have tried using F4L, however i was unable to get it to install/compile.

If anyone could suggest another program, or how to get F4L to work that'd be great.

PS: Incase some of you don't know, F4L stands for flash for linux

Native Flash programs for Linux are rare - Macromedia just has no interest in us (hope that changes once teh Macromedia acquisition by Adobe is complete). Why not post the problems you've experienced with F4L and we'll try to get that solved for you.

Ok, my problems like this:

I download the tar.gz from the website and did ./configure I then did make and got the following error:

Quote:
cd . && /home/bruce/F4L-BETA/admin/missing aclocal-1.4
WARNING: `aclocal-1.4' is needed, and you do not seem to have it handy on your
system. You might have modified some files without having the
proper tools for further handling them. Check the `README' file,
it often tells you about the needed prerequirements for installing
this package. You may also peek at any GNU archive site, in case
some other package would contain this missing `aclocal-1.4' program.
make: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 1
I'm running Debian Sarge. Any ideas?

Sorry, I'm a bit of a n00b with linux :-/

That's strange. Wouldn't they need a Flash maker if they were making a Flash player?

I guess I just assumed.

What it's telling you is that you need aclocal-1.4 installed, in order to install F4L.
Here is a thread that might give you some information.
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/323088

From what I've found, aclocal has to do with automake, which is the program that runs when you run
make.
You may want to try reinstalling automake, thats all I can come up with.
