Flash won't load in Konqueror - "Unable to load Netscape plugin"

I have a Flash plugin correctly installed and usable in Firefox. It seems that the correct way to get it working in Konqueror is to make sure it is listed at Settings > Configure Konqueror > Plugins. It is listed there, at /usr/lib/brower-plugins/libflashplayer.so.

But when I browse to a flash object I get "Unable to load Netscape plugin for http://site.com/flash.swf" (for example) and an offer to open the .swf in another program.

Anyone any pointers?...

My installation of Konqueror is using

/usr/lib/netscape/plugins-libc6/libflashplayer.so

The same Setting->Configure Konqueror->Plugins dialog should also show MIME type application/x-shockwave-flash and suffix .swf for this plugin. Is that OK? You could also try downloading/reinstalling the plugin using Konqueror. I have six copies of this plugin from various browsers/versions I have tried.

Also have you checked that the libflashplayer.so file you mention is really there?

Yep, the MIME type is correct. Yep, the libflashplayer.so is definitely there... It just doesn't work and it won't tell me why. That's the way it so often seems to be with Linux.

I just know that if I try reinstalling the plugin using Konqueror, it's going to stop working in Firefox. Perhaps the problem is because it is a Firefox-tailored version of the plugin..?

The irony of all this is that I'm only trying to get Flash working in Konqueror in order to view a single Flash webpage which has a bug particular to Firefox! Oh dear.
