Flash Ridiculously Slow in Karmic
 

K i've been running Karmic for a month or so, (I recently switched from Mint) and I love it except that anything flash related is terribly slow. I figure it's a Karmic problem since I'm currently looking at another laptop with a slower processor and slower graphics card running windows run the flash approximately a bajillion times faster.
I am wondering if it's something do with a driver problem, or configuration, namely "EXA" to "UXA" but when I try to open xorg.conf it's completely blank.
any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated, here's my graphics card info:

Try googling for "karmic flash slow" - there's some solutions involving adding lines to /etc/X11/xorg.conf (the X server config file) - it may not be on your system as its not there by default.

yea i started there actually, and went through 5 or 6 different things to that effect, but there is not xorg.conf, so of course I googled that as well but got no solution..

i did, however, find an install Swiftfox, which seems to make it somewhat better, though not as well as I'd like

well, between swiftfox and uninstalling the adobe-flashplugin and installing flash-nonfree, it's good enough to watch YouTube, which I suppose is gonna be the best I'll get

If there's no xorg.conf, just create one - I think other people who had the same problem didn't have one, & they've created one that just has a couple of lines that enable an option thats not on by default. Its a fairly new thing, not having a conf file for X - but of course thats only OK if you've got a setup that'll work OK "off the peg"

yea, funny story, i tried to make my own xorg.conf when i saw it wasn't there, and actually copied the line i needed from someone else that had the same problem and ended up losing my display altogether haha nothing a little recovery mode didn't fix but yea...didn't want to end up there again
