Flash Player

I downloaded and installed the latest version of flashplayer for linux. When I ran the installation it said that it completed successfully. I am using firefox version 1.5.0.1 and the plugin was in the plugin folder but, when I went to a flash site, it said that it needed the flash plugin in order to view some of the content.

I checked the permissions and owner, groups, and other are all checked for read, write and execute. So then I deleted the two flash plugin files and copied them freshly to the plugin folder manually. I still had the same problem when I would go to a site that used flash. Also, when I go to aboutlugins on my browser, it shows all of my plugins are installed except flashplayer. I'm not really sure what else to do. Anyone have the same problem or have any suggestions?

I'm fairly new to Fedora Core 5 (I just upgraded from Fedora Core 2 and am in the process of re-installing everything) but I searched the net and I couldn't find much help there so I thought I would try here since I got some help last time I had a problem.

after installing the plugins using firefox integrated plugin installer, quit firefox, restart it, browse to the website, and click refresh twice is necessary.

Okay, I tried that and it still says that an additional plugin is required (I know it is flash because it is not just one site, it is many sites that all say they are a flash plugin). thanks for the help, any other suggestions?

Delete the plugins from the directory, go to the macromedia site, download the binary, close firefox, drop to a console, chmod 755 binary, ./binary, and install it manually.
