flash not working at all

hello all! I installed macromedia flash via Synaptic Package Manager and it says it's installed-- but I still cannot view any flash and Firefox still wants me to install the flash plugin! What gives???

Firefox, Mozilla and Netscape all require plugins to be installed in ~/.mozilla/plugins. You can copy the files directly or use symlinks but that is where the browser will look for the files. A flashplayer installation won't put that file there for you.

If installing plugins for global users, then they need to be in the Mozilla or Firefox plugins directory e.g. /usr/lib/mozilla-version/plugins or /usr/lib/firefox-version/plugins. If installing the plugins just for yourself, they can go in ~/.mozilla/plugins.
