Flash installation problem

Hey there
I recently had some problems with Mozilla.
The fact is that now i cant surf with mozilla anymore so now i am using Konquerror. My recent problem is that i cant watch a video on the net. It asks for flash player. Thing quite strange as soon as i was watching videos normally before.
I made the decision to download the latest version of Flash (9 Ver) and install it. Well, something seems to go wrong. This is what i get:
Quote:
Mozilla installation directory = /home/manolios/.mozilla

Proceed with the installation? (y/n/q): y

NOTE: Please ask your administrator to remove the xpti.dat from the
components directory of the Mozilla or Netscape browser.
What i did when i first got this warning was to remove xpti.dat as i was told. The fact now is that i dont have this kind of file but the Flash installer still asks the same thing and still cant watch a video.Any ideas?

Thanks a lot for your time
Manolakis

Not sure about slackware but lots of distros come with the mozilla suit and mozillafirefox. On my SuSE box:
Code:
--> locate xpti.dat
/opt/mozilla/lib/components/xpti.dat
/opt/MozillaFirefox/lib/components/xpti.dat
have you removed all copies of xpti.dat?

Thanks for your reply
I did what you said but still getting the same warning.
Well, the fact is that i dont care so much about firefox as soon as i can surf with Konquerror. What i care most is to manage to watch online videos.

Maybe a different flash player would install without the same problem. GNU flash player GNASH has plugin support for konqueror and plays SWF v7. Have a look here.
Hope it works.
