Flash in Firefox either oss sound and out of sync or very slow

I can run Firefox with aoss but then the flash movies become so slow they are unplayable or unwatchable. Without aoss the sound seems to run out of sync and performance is still crappy.

Is there anyway to make it better?

I've tried a couple of things but it's all next to nothing.

Aoss - doesn't work for me, can't find out why it doesn't.
Esd - bad sound and out of sync
arts - best sound of the daemons I think maybe except for alsa but I can't get that to work. Out of sync and some games get lag.
