I have searched everywhere I know, but could not find a working solution for converting FLAC files to MP3. I used Sound Juicer CD Extractor to convert all of my CDs to FLAC format. Now I am trying to find a way to convert 500 files to 192kbps MP3 so that I can play them on my MP3 player. I would like the file names to be retained, just the extension changed.

I am using Fedora Core 5.

Well you can just decode the FLAC files to wav and then encode them to MP3. By the command line it's

flac -d *.flac

and then something like

lame -h -b 192 *.wav
