Question First Time Linux User needs help


I downloaded Mandrake 10.1 and installed, all was well. I rebooted PC to complete install. Bootloader-yes. OS loads and asks for user name and password, I type, password accepted, now what? How do I get system to run Mandrake? I am completely new to this but not new to PC's, so please don't think I am stuuuuupppiiiiddddd**

I'm not entirely sure what you mean. You entered your username and password, then what happened?

When you enter your username and password and press enter, you should be taken into a graphical user interface, if not, type "startx" at the command prompt.

try typing "startx" . I am guessing but it sounds like during the install you may have chosen not to start it automaticly.
