Hi:
I'm brand new to Linux. I have tried 3 times to install Red Hat 6.1 on my intel base machine. Each time, as it boots, it finishes looking for bootable media on CDROMS and Floppy, then I get a screen full of 01, 01, 01, etc. It seems to be in an endless loop as it will not stop till I shut down.
I'v gone by a book and had no problmes installing.
Here are some facts:
- I installed the first two times with the GUI and Text the 3rd
- I tried the Sever-class first, Workstation 2nd and expert 3rd.
- I have written zeros to my drive to clean it up for the 3rd install.
- I set it up for LILO
- I partitoned with, I guess, Disk Druid. I defined my partions and I assume they were fine. Went by the book.
- I DID NOT create a boot disk (something tells me this was a foolish thing not to do.
- I have a 750 AMD, 256 RAM, 20 GIG IDE HD (partitioned about 15). What else would you need to know?
- I have no clue.
Thanks for any info.
Rob
