This is my first attempt in setting up my very own home mail server. I purchased a DNS and have it pointing to the correct IP. My only issue is how would i setup my own SMTP server. I do not want to rely on my ISP for SMTP?
I have been trying to find tutorials on how to setup an SMTP server but with no luck. I am using Postfix on a gentoo box.
Did you see any of the tutorials on the Postfix site?
There really shouldn't be very much to do to get a basic system happening, asise from soem minor changes to main.cf such as mydomain, my networks, etc.
You'll also need an imap/pop server - havea look at dovecot, and this should work out of the box.
