Firewall and Antivirus

Hi,
I want to use my ADSL connection with Mandrake 9.2.
I would like to know which antivirus and firewalls exist to secure the navigation ?
Which softs are the best for that?
For Windows, I used Kaspersky as antivirus and Zone Alarm for firewall; that gave me good results. I would like to find an equivalent solution for linux.
Thank you.

The Mandrake firewall will be much better than the one you used in Windows, and virus protection is not really necessary with Linux as there are no email applications like 'Look out Distress' (Outlook) that presume you want to execute and run scripts that people send you automatically, and a virus cannot do much harm as a normal user, so unless you're daft enough to always run as root you don't have to worry. There are very few GNU/Linux viruses, if you are really paranoid about this you can get a scanner from http://www.f-prot.com/ - but I don't know anyone who uses anti-virus for Linux anywhere in my University, and there are hundreds of Linux boxes here - all the Windows boxes need a scanner of course!

I will search for the mandrake firewall to see that. Is it installed and activated by default ? Or should I do something ?

Mandrake uses shorewall as firewall, which basically is a front-end for iptables. If shorewall is installed you can activate it in the Mandrake Control Center, under Networking / Firewall (or whatever it is - can't remember now ).

shorewall probably offers better protection than any windows-based firewall...
f-prot is said to be a good antivirus but, again, it is kinda useless to get an antivirus running under linux unless if you scan mail servers...
