Firestarter, standard output and logs

Hello. I have successfully installed Firestarter. I am using RedHat 9.0 and can use text or X window Mode.
The problem: When I am in the text mode Firestarter spits out log messages to the standard output which means I will be typing something and all of a sudden there are 2 to 4 lines of log messages on my screen. This even happens when I am in VI. It is really confusing and bothersome.
The Question: How can I stop this behavior? I looked at all the options for Firestarter and it dosen't say anything.
Thanks
Jim
