Firestarter problem

Hi

I installed the Firestarter firewall on my machine. after some trouble i got it up and running without errors. Next i ran the wizzard and put in my services. The firewall is working fine and in fact it is working a little bit to fine.

The problem is that i cant surf the web when the firewall is on.

When the firewall is on and i visit a site then i can see that sites IP in the firewalls "hits" list (ports are random). Does anyone know if it is possible to browse the web with this firewall and how to achieve it?

What kind of internet connection?
Does stopping the firewall for a few seconds then restarting it (after your internet connection is up) allow access?

I setup Firestarter on KDE and it installed very nicely, however there are some quirks.

I am using dialup on ppp0 (a 56k modem) and I HAVE to start Firestarter AFTER I am connected or northing will happen.

Give this a try.

My other problem is that currently I can only access the net as Root Now. Which is very annoying as you are not supposed to!
