Hello,

Where are you exactly getting this error message, and how are you trying to run it? You do also know that Ubuntu comes with a front end to iptables, correct? You don't need to install firestarter, it is a waste. Perform the following:
Code:
sudo apt-get install gufw
Also as a reference if needed, here you go - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10777571

Cheers,

Josh

I have also had this problem on all my computers after moving to Ubuntu Natty . As firestarter is to be discontinued I have not bothered to seek a solution but have started using gufw to configure my firewall (Samba and NFS).
One feature of firestarter that I do miss is the toolbar icon that turns red when a connection is blocked, and the easy viewing of the event file to see the source of the blocked connection and the port the connection was attempted
