firefox3--flash and java

When first setting up the latest ArchLinux, I encountered what I assumed was a beta version of FF3---they call it "Gran Paradiso". I had trouble getting flash and jre plugins to work---I just gave up and installed FF 2.0.0.16 to get things running.

Now (for unrelated reasons) I'm looking at Xubuntu 8.04, which comes with FF3.01. I decided to install the flash and jre plugins and everything worked fine.

Anyone know why I might have had trouble with the Arch version of FF (Gran Paradiso)?

Are you talking about the install that comes with the distro or the one you downloaded from mozilla.com? It could possibly be a bug in the OS.

In both cases, it was the FF that came with the distro. In both cases, it is version 3.0.1. The only difference is in Arch--it's called "Gran Paradiso"
