Firefox won't work over GPRS connection?

I've recently set up by computer (Ubuntu) to connect to the Internet via the GPRS connection on my mobile, while I've been able to connect fine Firefox stays set in 'Offline mode' (as does Epiphany) the only browser that seems to work is Lynx. Any idea how I can get Firefox to work?

my guess is that Firefox can't understand that you are connected, beacause GPRS is daln slow
(it's okey for phones).

and try this:
Code:

Go to about:config and search for network.dns.disableIPv6. Change the value to true and voila, the internet is now fast again.
