firefox won't install extensions

I"m using Debian Sarge with the 2.6.8 Kernel. My firefox refuses to install any extensions. I hit the "install now" button but nothing happens. I don't get any error messages but when I restart firefox no extensions show up. I've tried both 1.0.2 and 1.0.3. Any one have any suggestions?

Have you tried starting firefox from a bash prompt to see if you get any errors on stderr?

You may want to try a fresh profile folder and see if that fixes it.
