firefox, thunderbird & amaroK
I recently upgraded from SUSE 10.0 to 10.1 (What a leap!!!) and I am very pleased with my choice, everything works very well.
I have a few questions though
1) I stored my xxxxxxx.default file from thunderbird, how do I make the new installation get the old E-mails? It wasn't explained on the FAQ on the Mozilla site
2) Same questions with firefox and bookmarks
3) I want to upgrade from version 1.3 of amaroK to version 1.4 but as I tried to install it, the system came up with a load of dependancy errors? Do I completly uninstall and then re-install the new version?
There should be a folder called .mozilla in your home folder (you may need to change settings to see hidden folders). Within this there's another folder for firefox, and I think thunderbird too, but I don't use it. The bookmarks go in the default folder. For example my bookmarks path is ~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxx.default/bookmarks.html
For the thunderbird, I'm not certian, but I'd guess it should just be moved to probably ~/.mozilla/thunderbird/xxxxxx.default.
For amarok, can you post the errors so we know what they are? And how are you trying to install version 1.4? I don't know much about how rpms work, but I figure there's probably some option to tell it to upgrade to the new package.
for a list of possible commands
the for the update option type
rpm -Uv package_to_install.rpm
-the "v" stands for verbose
so that if anything goes wrong
you can look at the output.
It's the thunderbird problem that is reallt serious
it looks like the configuration folder for thunderbird is actually .thunderbird in your home folder, not .mozilla/thunderbird. So my guess would be to move the folder you have into this. Don't know if there's anything else that needs to be done.
