Firefox Plug-Ins

Two sights I visited frequently when using Windows were MySpace and YTMND.

On MySpace, nothing shows up on the music players now that I'm using Linux. Is there a plugin I should have for that? I just dont' know what the players use. Maybe Flash?

Also, I don't get any sound on YTMND.com. I seem to remember YTMND using Quicktime for sound, but I know that's not available on Linux. Anyone know?

It helps if you put the distro you are using in your profile. As the method for installing and getting the various plugins to work is a bit different for each distro.

Basically you need the win32codecs and a media player like kaffiene or mplayer.

check to see what plugins Firefox is using by typing about:config in the address bar.

Installed Plugins: (9)

* Adobe Reader 7.0
* DivX Browser Plug-In
* Helix DNA Plugin: RealPlayer G2 Plug-In Compatible
* Java(TM) Plug-in 1.5.0_08-b03
* MozPlugger 1.7.3 handles QuickTime Windows Media Player Plugin
* mplayerplug-in 3.31
* QuickTime Plug-in 6.0 / 7
* Shockwave Flash 9.0 d55
* Windows Media Player Plugin

(Sort of related, and this is the closest post I found)
Machine: self-assembled. MB VIA chipset, CPU AMD Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1.5Ghz; 512 Mb RAM; Graphics: ATI Raedon 7000, Samsung SyncMaster 152v LCD-TFT 14".
Distro: SuSE 10.0 from original Novell free download (came with all the stuff that has to be manually added to the OpenSuse 10.1), add-ons from kernel.org/packman/suse-guru repos.
Firefox v 1.0.6 SUSE/1.0.6-16
Since the update to Firefox 1.0.6, I have been unable to read the program listing grid from TV Guide Online.
I have a Dell (rebranded Samsungm Intel chipset) notebook running SuSE 10.1 (opensuse) with Firefox v 1.5.0.8/SUSE 1.5.8-0.2 that works fine on the same website.
I have a machine used exclusively for OS experimentation, VIA Mb, Intel Celeron @ 1.1 Ghz, 320 Mb RAM, also having Firefox v 1...5.0.8/SUSE 1.5.0.9-0.2 that also runs that website AOK.
Daughters machine running Windoze SP Home read it OK.
I hold the personally-owned, experientially-based, opinion that the maintainers of my local TV Guide website couldn't find their collective backsides with both hands and a light, and it is no great secret that Windoze IE will execute standardless, sloppy HTML/XML code, but am still wondering if I need to do something else to the new Firefox, and if so --- HELP!!!!
I am clueless......
thanks

For a start off, update Firefox to version 2.

I checked the site you refer to and it runs great. You need the Flash plugin from Adobe though. Type about : plugins (without the spaces)into your browser address bar and tell us what you have installed.
