Firefox/Java

I have set FF up with java many times w/o a hitch but I'm missing something today. Jre1.5.0. Symlinked ln -s /usr/java/jre1.5.0/plugin/ns7-gcc29/libjavaplugin_oji.so. Plugin shows up in the FF plugin folder but not in "aboutlugins" and of couse java doesn't work. My gcc is 2.96. What did I miss? Thanks.

Hmm.. it works fine for me.
ll of my firefox plugins directory
Code:
$/> ll libjavaplugin_oji.so
/opt/firefox-installer/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /opt/jdk1.5.0_01/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
I guess you would have to change the libjava.. that u have linked to. Take a look at the one I have linked to.

I got it working. Reinstalled Jre1.5.0 and redid the symlink with gcc29. FF wouldn't start so I knew then it was seeing java so I re-symlinked with ns7 only and it works. Sure like my Opera 8 better though. Thanks.

ok, forget it. it appears that I have two instances of FF installed, and of course, the one I didn't know existed (in my home dir) is the one I'm using.
