Firefox issue

I recently installed Firefox 1.0.4. I was initially having some problems with the java plugin, but those were cleared up. However, now I can only launch it from the command line. If I try to make a 'shortcut' in KDE, it won't start properly.

in the command prompt, I tryp ./firefox (in the directory where the file resides), and everything works fine. However, upon enterting /<dir>/firefox/firefox for the command in the 'shortcut' dialogue and trying it out, the "starting firefox" box showed up on the bar at the bottom of the screen, and nothing came of it.

Anyhelp with this would be greatly appreciated, as launching firefox from the command line isn't my idea of convience

Thanks,
/vital_101

Welcome to LQ!

In KDE you can right-click on the K logo and choose Menu Editor and then select Internet and Add New Item and type it's name then pretty much "fill in the blanks." You can browse to the path for your app, and click on the icon feller there and browse to the icons. After that you should be able to use that K menu logo again, navigate up it to Internet, then right-click on Firefox, and select Add Item to Desktop.

Don't know about your comp, but my path to Firefox is /usr/bin/firefox

Well, I checked my link target, and it was the correct place. My problem is that firefox will launch just fine from a terminal window, but if I try to make the shortcut, it never opens (It gets to the loading firefox stage, then dies).

I still have the same problem, but now from the command prompt I'm getting...

INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not get the plugin manager
System error?:: Success

Any help is greatly appreciated.
