FireFox installation directory

Hi,

This is a bit of a silly newbie question, but where should I install FireFox? I'm trying to follow the FSH conventions, but still can't decide where to put it. /usr/bin, /usr/lib, /home/user, somewhere else?

Thanks!

Are you building from source or are you using a prebuilt package like the one from texturizer.net?

If you're doing a source install you can specify the installation location with the configure script (read the instructions). If you are using the prebuilt official packages you can install it to pretty much anywhere. /usr/local is meant for locally built software (or at least non distribution-supplied software), so I usually create a directory called /usr/local/mozilla.org and install the Firefox and Thunderbird packages there, so the actual directory will be /usr/local/mozilla.org/firefox.

Then just add that directory to you $PATH. If you are unsure of how to do that, search these forums. That particular question is asked very often.
