Firefox freezes!plz help!

Out of completely nowhere my firefox (both versions 1.07 and 1.5.0.1) freeze completely when trying to open some webpages such as this --> http://macdailynews.com/index.php/weblog/comments/8124/

I've tried erasing the .mozilla folder, but the problem persisted

BUT if i log in as root i can see all the webpages with no problem at all!

What is going on???

PS1 I just found out that if i log as normal user with gnome it freezes too!(the gui not firefox-i can't see anything else beyond a blue background and the two toolbars!).If i log as root i CAN log with gnome with NO problem!

PS2 I am using opensuse 10.0 x86 32bit version with KDE

I also found something quite interesting..
If i log in as root or as another normal user, everything works fine!(i can log into gnome, firefox doesn't freeze anymore etc etc)

Could it be a security problem??

When I read that it works okay in root but not in your normal user account I thought that it could be a disk space issue because root can use the last 5% of disk space. When you later said that a different normal user is okay I wondered if you have disk quotas enabled or if the other normal user has its home directory on a different partition than the first normal user account.

You can always check /var/log/messages to see if there are any helpful messages.

You could do a basic "device" level troubleshooting procedure. In this case the "device" is software. You can start by using a different browser to see if the problem occurs there. If you determine that it is only a problem with Firefox then maybe the problem user's access to Java binaries or the Flash plugin or something similar doesn't function properly. If the problem occurs with another browser then there is something common between the two browsers that causes the problem.

I had the same problem with firefox-1.0.7 and found the problem by opening a terminal to run firefox in safe mode as root:
firefox -safe-mode

Firefox was hanging up on the MSP extension and gave me the following error:
[root@localhost]# Failed to load overlay chrome://msp/content/msp.xul

I went to the
.mozilla/firefox/********.default/chrome/overlayinfo/browser/content/ folder and edited the overlays.rdf file to eliminate the msp.xul reference
