Firefox - default profile in use
Linux crashed on me recently, i had to do a physical reboot to get back. Now however, firefox won't load. It says "Firefox cannot use the profile "default" because it is in use. Please choose another profile or create a new one."
I do a "ps -A" and firefox-bin is not there! I assume it thinks it is running in the background but I don't know what to do. How do I stop it? THanks for any help! FYI, here is my output from ps -A Code:
PID TTY TIME CMD |
This happens to me when using either Firefox or sometimes with Thunderbird. If you erase the symbolic link called 'lock' in ~/.mozilla/firefox/default.xxx/ and restart it will start working again.

That worked, thanks hallamigo! What a relief because I depend on firefox to remember a lot of my passwords for me ;)

No problem - I found that this happens with both Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird occasionally if either app is not closed properly - and unfortunately rebooting doesn't work - only the manual deletion of the lock file.
