Firefox Cannot Display Youtube Properly or Play Streaming Videos

I recently noticed that my Firefox browser can no longer play any Youtube videos. I'm sure I must have installed something which interfered. When I go to www.youtube.com, I see a really ugly site as can be seen in the picture. When I click on a video, I get the message "Hello, either you have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

Furthermore, I have noticed that I cannot play any hulu.com videos, dailymotion.com videos, etc. In other words, I can't watch streaming videos online at all!

This has been really annoying. I have already installed the Flash plugin through yum. I'm using Fedora 11. I went to Gnome's System->Administration->Add Remove Software and saw that Adobe Flash Player 10.0 (flash-plugin-10.0.32.18-release(i386) is checked.

Currently, under Firefox Preferences I have Flash video set to use mplayerplug-in. I also have 3GPP multimedia file, AIFF Audio, Amiga SoundTracker audio, MIDI audio, and Ogg audio set to use mplayerplug-in. Every other application uses MozPlugger 1.12.1. Changing Flash video to use Movie Player appears to do nothing.

Can someone help me out here?

Hello,

somewhere on your system (in Slackware /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/) is the plugin-directory for mozilla. There should be a file "libflashplayer.so". If not, you can download the plugin from adobe in tar.gz-format and after extracting the file you'll have this "libflashplayer.so". Copy it into the appropriate directory (.../mozilla/plugins).
If the file already exists check out if there is a newer version available. And if you already have the latest version you can go on with checking the settings of firefox.
