Firefox as a user

I know there's a simple solution to this. I originally upgrade Firefox to 1.0.6 via tar file. Could only run the new version as root.

I tried to upgrade via apt-get. Synaptic shows 1.0.6
Still only runs as root.

As a user, firefox and mozilla-firefox from the command line brings up 1.0.2

I'm using ubuntu

Sounds like you have 2 versions of Firefox installed. Do a
Code:
whereis firefox
or
Code:
locate firefox
and see where they are at. Make a symlink to the newer version for user. Or change the permissions of the Firefox launcher. Might be called Firefox or Firefox.sh

Or wipe everything including the /usr/home/you/.mozilla/firefox and start over like Slacker said.
