Firefox and URL field select-all in Linux?

Hi,
When you click on the URL window in Linux Firefox, it just places the edit cursor there in the URL as though you wanted to fine tune your URL. 99% of the time, I want to type in a completely new URL.

Firefox on the evil os (windoz) highlights the entire URL by default so that your typing clobbers the entire URL and starts over from scratch.

When I want to go to another URL, I have to either hit a Control-A (select all) or drag the mouse over the entire URL and then start typing.

Is there a Firefox preference to Auto-Select-All when mouse focus falls on the URL entry field?

Thank you.
BrianP

Try double-clicking.

But yes, you can change this behavior. Open up about:config and cruise to the setting "browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll". You'll probably have to restart the browser for it to take effect.

Personally, I prefer the opposite behavior. For me, 90% of the time I want to edit the url. I usually use bookmarks or links to go to completely new locations.

browser.urlbar.clickSesectsAll trick works!

David the H,
You're brilliant! It works. Looks like 50 pages of parameters there. I will check out a few others and see what I can destroy.

Thanks 1E6,
BrianP
