firefox 3.5 (shiretoko) not enabling javascript on ubuntu 9.04


I realized today that my browser does not have javascript enabled at all. I have the boxes checked under preferences but it still isn't working. I can't even see the little blue balls on this page so I know it's out. Can anyone else see the

I've tried deleting my .mozilla folder but that didn't work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated I don't know where else to check.
