Question Firefox 0.8

Ok, I am not a horrible Linux newbie but this problem is stumping me.

I am using RH 9 with Gnome 2.2.

I recently downloaded the new Firefox 0.8 and now whever I click on a link that requires an outside program (such as a PDF, RPM Package Manager, File Roller, etc). The dialogue box will come up asking what I want to do with the file. Usually my first choice is the one I want but the OK button is grayed out. I can never click it. Every time I want to download something I have to right-click on it and hit save link as... or open up the old Firebird 0.7 and click on the link (it works fine in 0.7).

Am I just using a buggy version of Firefox? Or is there a deeper issue? Maybe my Kernel is possessed...

Thanx =)

Ben H.

No it is not a buggy version; if you visit the firefox site it clearly states:

While this software may work well enough to be relied upon as your primary browser, we make no guarantees of its performance or stability in its pre-1.0 state and it should not be relied upon for mission- critical tasks

So its still under development and many of the features may not work properly or may not work at all.
If you have a powerful machine then use Mozilla

Hope this helps....

Go into Tools->Options->Downloads and see if the bottommost white box contains any entries.

I understand it is still pre-1.0 but in 0.7 it worked and now in 0.8 is isn't... I was wondering if it was some type of setting I just needed to click somewhere. Other than this issue, I love the 0.8.

BTW, there is nothing in that white box there. But when the download dialogue comes up, I dont even have the option to save it to a disk.
