Find duplicate videos and pictures

Between being a photographer and getting most of my television news via downloads (not to mention the downloaded TV shows), I have a hard drive that's littered with many Gigs of photos and movies. Many of the TV news clips were downloaded by a script, and it turns out that there are quite a few dupes, in different directories, with different names.

Mind you, the big issue here is that they have different names.

I was wondering whether anyone can suggest some software to identify duplicate videos or pictures (need something that will handle both, or different packages for each) which have *different* names, and either display them and allow deletion or just output a list that could be turned into a playlist?

Thanks,
Jason

I don't know about videos, but apparently (according to a recent Linux Journal article) digiKam is able to locate duplicate images. I imagine it sorts by file creation date and picks out exact matches or something, which wouldn't be too hard to write a script for any file format.
