File size limit on FAT32

I have a dual boot XP/SuSE 9.0 setup and keep all my data in a FAT32 partition so I can access it from either OS. I'm working with some large video files and keep hitting a 2GB file size limit working in SuSE even though XP has no problem.

Specifically, I'm "cat"ing 2 1.5GB files together to make one large file.

I've tried the "ulimit" function, but that shows no limits on file size, and as far as I know SuSE 9.0 is set up to support large files.

So the possibilities seem to be:

1. SuSE 9.0 can't handle large files at all

2. SuSE 9.0 can't create large files on a FAT32 partition

3. cat can't create large files.

Anyone have any ideas??

thx

What's the fstab entry you're using to
mount that Fat32 partition?

Cheers,
