Unhappy File recovery from unkown embedded OS FS

Hello all,

I have a real desperate situation here. To make it short, a third party backup program deleted a lot of files all over my file server. The actual backup zip files seem to have tons of CRC errors and are corrupted. To add insult to injury, the Zip files are AES 128 encrypted and I cannot access them because of what we think is Zip header corruption.

Part two:

I have some older backups on HDD that were in an Embedded OS NAS server. The name of the server is InterNAS GS53 by SerComm (sercomm dot com /GS53). This NAS started having problems about a month ago with the HDDs in and one spare not in it. I have not been able to reach anybody at this company for help. I have replaced it since with a better NAS. I believe there is a lot of recoverable data on these HDDS, but I do not know what File System the HHD’s are formatted in. From what I have read, it seems that XFS might be it, but I am not sure. I have tried to mount the HDDs with a Linux box (CentOS), Knoppix and FreeBSD. All say that the File system type is unknown.

1. How can I identify the File system on the HDDs?
2. If it is XFS, how doe I mount them on various OS's to get the data?
3. The InterNAS has a 16 MB Flash card that I can browse with an UFS utility for windows, but I do not know how to re-image it to try and get it to work. Help?
4. Any other suggestions?
