File Byte Level replication.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for a product that can do real time byte level replication? I need to be able to do this from a Linux OS to a Windows OS if possible. Also, we only need to sync one way (Linux---> Windows). We currently use Peer Sync for Windows but they do not have a Linux flavor yet. Using Red Hat ES 4.0.

Thanks,

Real-time?? You mean automatic, on the fly, mirroring?

The low level routine in Linux-land is dd. This will move bytes between raw devices or from/to filenames.

Perhaps dd in a shell script called by cron???

Perhaps mirroring would better describe it? We have a hub and spoke architecture and we need to make sure that a database running at my hub site gets replicated to a Windows server located at a designated failover location. Over frame relay to be exact. We do this with Windows boxes using Peer Sync which works well but I’m looking for a way to do the same thing under Linux. The database is proprietary and small. Keeping the failover location as up to date as possible is one of the main goals here along with making sure it’s intact if something happens to the hub site. Real-time may be a bit much for our needs but we would like to be within 15 minutes or so.

Thanks for the response.

I found a product called FileReplicationPro that does this well. It can run on and in between any OS that runs Java. I would post a link but Im resticted until I make 5 posts..
