If I attempt to open a VIDEO_TS.IFO file in Nautilus it launches VLC Player as I have told it to. If I attempt to open the same file in Gnome Commander it tells me
No default application found for the MIME type application/octet-stream.
Open the "File types and programs" page in the Control Center to add one.
The gnome-command-center has no "File types and programs" page. "Set preferred applications" does not allow me to make file associations. I am at a loss. Why does Gnome Commander not know the file associations set in Gnome? A google search turned up many statements to the effect "Gnome Commander ...support file associations" but none telling me how to set them.
p.s. VIDEO_TS.IFO is the file which starts a video DVD "main menu".
